Norway and Silicon Valley-based robotics firm 1X has unveiled its latest humanoid robot, Neo Gamma, designed to assist with household chores while blending seamlessly into domestic settings. Wrapped in a minimalist, beige 3D-knitted bodysuit, Neo Gamma embodies a Scandinavian-inspired aesthetic that makes it more suitable for home environments.
Neo Gamma is equipped with cutting-edge artificial intelligence, allowing it to walk with a natural gait, swing its arms, squat, and sit in chairs. Trained using human motion capture data, it can navigate home environments smoothly and perform essential tasks like vacuuming, tidying, and doing laundry.
Additionally, 1X has developed a new vision-manipulation model, enabling Neo Gamma to pick up various objects in different situations, even in unfamiliar environments. By utilizing neural networks and processing raw sensor data, the robot can predict and execute appropriate actions efficiently.
Beyond physical tasks, Neo Gamma also features an internally developed large language model (LLM), allowing it to communicate naturally and express body language more fluidly. With its “companion” feature, the robot can engage in real-time conversations, making interactions more intuitive and lifelike.
Its advanced audio system includes:
- Four microphones for high-quality audio capture
- A speaker in the chest for AI voice interactions
- Two speakers in the pelvis for bass, sound effects, and music
While still in the prototype stage, 1X plans to begin limited in-home testing to refine Neo Gamma’s capabilities before wider deployment. This marks a major step forward in integrating humanoid robots into everyday life, making futuristic home assistants a reality.
